ABF’s Maritime Border Command (MBC) and the Australian Maritime Safety Authority – AMSA join forces to rescue stranded Indonesian fishers.
A routine surveillance mission by the MBC’s patrol aircraft discovered the stationary fishing vessel with its crew waving frantically for attention. Working together, AMSA, a merchant vessel, the ABF Cutter Cape Wessel and an AMSA Search and Rescue (SAR) aircraft responded to the area to provide assistance to the stranded crew.
The SAR aircraft dropped two Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacons to alert authorities to the vessel’s location. AMSA then coordinated the rescue response to the vessel, supported by the Indonesian National Search and Rescue Agency Badan Nasional Pencarian dan…
