Darwin hotel standoff leaves police officer injured and CBD street closed

A police officer has been injured during a standoff with an alleged domestic violence offender at a Darwin CBD hotel.

The man has been crouched on an outside ledge on the first storey of the Luma Luma hotel since around lunchtime as police negotiators try to coax him down.

The scene has caused Wood Street to be blocked off.

Incident controller Sergeant Wayne O’Neill said the man had been throwing cans and bottles from the ledge, one of which hit a police dog handler in the head, leaving him with…
