Darwin’s new $50 million art gallery moves ahead as existing cultural institution cuts staff and shows

A $50 million art gallery is edging closer to becoming a reality in Darwin, but doubts are being raised about whether the debt-straddled Northern Territory Government can afford its operating costs.

The NT Government confirmed a tender would soon be released for the construction of the new State Square Gallery, which is expected to open in the CBD by 2023.
